"A very small but beautiful place they have here! the fact that it is small, makes it so much better, usually in a huge restaurant you lost among all other tables and sometimes service can hit and miss, but not at this place! great eating a really nice menu that also changes! I was highly recommended here a few times. I would book a table although it is a small restaurant. well done!"

"My second time back to Whites Very enjoyable meal but like in most P&M’s in these difficult times I believe the pies are now smaller, so therefore with a little less filling The price for 2+2 with Stewed Eels £15.30. I’ll leave it for others to comment on value. But to repeat. Enjoyable meal"

"We visited this month with 3 children, myself and my parents for a lunch. Upon literally sitting down, the server came over and asked what we were having to drink. We hadn’t even been seated for more than 20 seconds or given a menu. We quickly ordered the drinks and then looked at the menu. In our party, we had my Autistic Daughter( aged 9). She wanted the adults fish and chips but won’t eat any foods if its mixed. The server came back over to ask for our food order and i said that she would like the Cod and Chips but with no lemon, tartare or peas on the plate. The servers response was ‘ But its very big’….. so i said thats fine and she went ‘ But the portion is very big’. Why does it matter…. She isn’t the one paying. I yet again stated it’s fine and she wrote down ‘Cod Chips’. I then ordered the youngers 2’s nugget meals and she went ‘ Sorry, fish fingers. I wasn’t listening’….. this was so rude! I repeated the Chicken nuggets. I then confirmed that The Cod Chips would be completely plain, just the Cod the chips on the plate. She ignored me. My mum then confirmed it also to which she replied ‘ yeah it’ll be plain’. My mum made a comment that the server hadn’t written it down which she ignored yet again. She then asked if there was anything else and my daughter asked for another straw, to which she was told of course. The straw never came. When the food arrived, surprise surprise, massive lemon wedge directly on top of the Cod and the chips. I stated as she put the plate down that it was meant to be completely plain, as asked for, 3 times. She literally giggled and just walked off. We then had a child who would not eat the food. This person could not take the orders correctly, was not concentrating in the slightest and couldn’t even offer a remedy on a mistake made by herself. Its not good enough. You don’t expect to go to an establishment, pay good money, and get ignored and simple requests not listened to."

"We'd done our favourite walk along the sea-front from Frinton to Walton and were looking forward to our fish n chips at Yates. But for some reason they got it horribly wrong on this occasion. It took over half an hour to cook my piece of plaice (nobody else was queuing during that time) and when I unwrapped it, the fish batter was rock hard and over cooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside. The chips were soggy and all stuck together. What a huge disappointment."
