"We stayed in Cwmbach and decided to go for a walk along the old railway line. We decided to visit The Red Cow for a drink and something to eat. They were holding a private function and were very busy, but still managed to fit us in. The meal was excellent and the staff lovely and friendly. The pub is also dog friendly."

"Food was a massive let down. All courses excluding dessert were very oily greasy and gave us a queasy feeling for both myself and partner. The only positive of the restaurant was the service provided. The only reason the score isn’t lower is due to a good breakfast and good service from Tricia."

"The reality is so far from their description that I’m surprised they haven’t been questioned by trading standards for lying. The waitress bar person (not her fault needs training) had no clue about anything. Took 15 minutes to get a cocktail because she kept running out the back to get information. I asked what the soup of the day was and she didn’t know so had to go and check. Then asked what the curry of the day was and she said “I think it’s chicken”, I replied “chicken what” and she said “chicken curry” . You couldn’t make it up. I then asked if the lamb shank was fresh and local and she said “yes I think so” so that’s what I ordered. The lamb arrived 10 minutes later and was awful. Tough as cow skin and had clearly been frozen and or microwaved. The mash was like school dinner mash and the veg had also been frozen. The following morning we went for breakfast and it was the cheapest nastiness ingredients I’ve tasted. The sausages we wet and were clearly about 10% pork and the bread that had been put next to the toaster was still frozen in the middle. I would rather starve than ever set foot in this place again."

"Dinner for two adults and two children. It was a wonderful meal with a creative menu and great wine list. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. The service was excellent, attentive and efficient. Portions were generous and tasty. Will be back."

"Food is tasty but way too salty. In recent times salt has been known to cause health problems and boy oh boy their food has an overkill on salt. Cut down on the salt used in your food for the sake of public health. If it wasnt for that I would buy from here often."

"This lovely local pub is just fantastic! Great beer and traditional pub grub we booked for a large family group for a birthday and from the first point of contact to the end of the evening was just excellent. We submitted our orders prior to arrival and paid deposits for each person, when we arrived the tables were laid and the restaurant was warm, comfortable and well presented. There were sufficient staff who provided us with excellent service throughout the evening. The food was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious! All 18 members of the party, including children thoroughly enjoyed their food and commented how good it was. DEFINIETLY will return."
