"My wife and myself are holidaying in the Lake staying at the Crown Hotel in Wetheral and shortly after our arrival we were given a lunch recommendation at the nearby Posting Pot which is half cafe/restaurant and general store/Post Office. We were warmly welcomed by a very nice lady (Elaine or Liz? who also gave us some directions for a walk along the River Eden and we were soon enjoying the Soup of the Day (Broccoli which was served with crutons and some lovely granary bread. It was so delicious that we returned to the Posting Pot after our walk for Tea for Two accompanied by a generous slice of home made local fruit cake. I suspect these won’t be our only visits to the Posting Pot!!"

"After I saw pictures on the sotto Facebook page of eating, I tried it. I had annoyed my partner for months. so on Saturday night we and another couple thought we would go for tee before we had a cocktail night in the city. the service was quite disappointing, it was quite busy, but not pushed by the feet and there were several workers on to 5/6 I think. our drinks lasted long until we were finished, and when we finished them, tried to draw the waiter attention to another drink, was a chorus. Several employees went past the table and didn't think to take our glasses and the wine glasses on the table, so it just looked creepy. our food took very long until we had come; with two other tables that came after us, we were served! what we had to have been to a man who had to have been the shift manager, and he answered by apologising and that he had to work with "an old staff today at night". one of the waitresses was a young girl who just stood around and didn't do much and we had to ask her to take away our glasses. we were almost finished with our second amount of drinks when our food finally came. the presentation was beautiful, unfortunately my carbonara wayy had to garlic in so that I could not eat everything. my partner had a pizza that was absolutely amazing, but the basic was quite soggy, I guess because fresh tomats are used in the sauce that is understandable. the bill was not too bad and we had another round drinks instead of pudding. the whole evening was good, drinks were also tasty and cheap, as cocktails go, but the service was disappointing and the eating was subduing. I will probably not rush back soon"

"Having already been to the Peace Plenty restaurant in Decemember for sunday with Santa i decided to go back again with my mam and two children as we really enjoyed it the first time we visited again the food service didnt dissapoint. It was another delicious three course meal I had the haggis bon bons, the beef(main was beautiful, beef was cooked perfectly the garlic mash soo good) then the Vanilla cheesecake with the blueberry compote my mam had the garlic mushrooms, beef and Lemon posset, then the two children had cumberland sausage, mash yorkies.The complimentary bread and water is always a nice touch when waiting for your meal to arrive. The operations manager Alistair is very good with the customers especially with the children and has a brilliant sense of humour that just makes everyone in the restaurant laugh, which makes the atmosphere in there even better he really gives it that extra finesse a restaurant needs to run well. Its a lovely family friendly restaurant that i would be happy visiting even on non special occasions too. The new menu i looked at sounds really tasty its somewhere i feel very comfortable to take my children without judgement that you may get at some nice restaurants. Thank you very much for another pleasant meal."

"Personal super friendly. eating was abundant and good worth! we were there when the carnivals went out so that 4 jumped on the 2nd choice, but we could see that it was not too long before more came out of the kitchen."

"The food was excellent and the service excellent. The dessert menu cannot be overlooked. We ordered chocolate cake, bread pudding with vanilla sauce and freshly fried churros with dulce de leche sauce. It was very difficult to choose one of the three as favorites."
