"If there were six stars I would give them. We arrived on a Sunday early afternoon in Ploubalay in a state of near despair as our attempts to get lunch in the nearby coastal village had met with a flat "complet". Our reception here could not have been more different. A cheerful friendly greeting was followed by the man at the bar "checking" to see if there was a table (i.e. fitting us in when they were already hectic busy). We had a nice aperitif and then were taken to a table on the terrace (beside the local police enjoying their Sunday lunch in uniform!). The recommended specialty of Choucroute de St Jacques a l'Andouille was heaven on a plate, though we were completely unable to manage anything else to eat afterwards. The desserts did look delicious at the neighbouring tables, but we just couldn't fit anymore in.As some people have mentioned this is like a trip back in time, and a very enjoyable one too!"

"We LOVED this place. The two female chefs are impressive to say the least. My husband and I came to dinner here for our honeymoon and they had clearly given us their best table, as well as two complimentary flutes of champagne. The concept is exactly what I'd go for if I opened a restaurant myself. High quality food in an atmosphere that is modern and polished, but warm and lacking any pretension that can sometimes accompany such culinary pedigree. One of the chefs attended to us personally at the start of our meal and she graciously volunteered to assist with any necessary menu translation, which was very kind and not our experience everywhere in France. (We speak enough French to get by conversationally, but menus can be tricky. How many non-native speakers know the French work for sweetbreads off-hand)? She was wonderful and the entire experience was flawless. The food was incredible: fresh, thoughtful, creative and impeccably executed. We were thrilled. Le deux sardines was our favorite meal of the entire trip, which included an excellent visit to the amazing Le Chateau Richeux."
