"This restaurant in a lovely garden setting in the centre of the small village of Brissac clearly has a certain degree of culinary ambition. Service was excellent, and friendly. Wine was perfect Puech-Haut, 2012 (Euro 49), but the food lacked distinct flavors. Our three course menu included a complicated entree of a rabbit terrine with too many ingrediients.which obscured the flavor of the rabbit which when served cold is very subtle to begin with. It looked perfect on the plate, artfully arranged but please simplify the dish and bring out taste. The main course was ok: two different kinds of beef prepared in two different ways. The sauce of one was overpowering, but an acceptable if unexciting plate. The dessert was a disaster: my wife and I could not determine what it was: a blob of rasberry something. Our conclusion: go back to the roots of French bistro cooking and then build on the wide array of fabulous tastes, and keep it simple and pure. The bill came to Euro 135 for two, so it was not excessive especially in view of the fantastic wine. Please also turn off the music."

"Suite aux conseil d'un, cette auberge nous a agréablement surprise de par ses prestations et son accueil. Produits frais et une carte réduite, ce qui est signe de qualité. Le cadre naturel de l'endroit est particulièrement agréable et authentique. A recommander sans hésitation ;)"

"I wanted to visit this place but was unsure if my picky (sigh!) 11 year old would cope with the complex flavours and fine food on offer. I drove down to the Mas in the afternoon and asked to see a menu. I was informed that the menu hadn't been printed yet, but was shown into the kitchen where chef explained what would be on offer. It all sounded delightful, but I informed him that whilst my wife, eldest and I would enjoy it, my youngest wouldn't and it was unlikely we'd be able to come. At that point he told me of their kids menu. Problem solved! We were shown to a lovely table and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food was, as expected, sublime, and the menu including wine was excellent - so much so we visited the vineyard the next day and bought 12 bottles! It was very reasonably priced and a gastronomic treat - we had Ceviche with lime and coconut to start, and melt in the mouth lamb with polenta for main course. The desert was equally tasty. I thoroughly recommend this venue for its friendliness, great food, and beautiful atmosphere/views."
