"Had their fish and chips. Halibut 2 pce. Look at pictures. It's not that it was bad, but it was far from great, OK best for pub food. Server made a special drink, but it was tasteless, hardly flavored water, but did not want the feedback I think? But enough for that. The service was missing strongly, although there was MAYBE 10% cap? Once checked, how it doesn't taste again until it was time to go, no refill, never asked if I wanted to close something in front of the kitchen... I wanted dessert, but nothing. And the place was dead. I left a bigger tip than deserved... I'll take care of some really good fish and chips next time. like Jo Classes in Courtenay!"

"If I could give this place 3.5 stars that would be my true rating. What I liked: the glass of Bacchus, Alderlea white wine and the view. Our server was very nice but a tad forgetful. She forgot the side of mayo and forgot to bring us our drinks so we hadto ask for everything again. We ordered the calamari because they were out of muscles. To not get customers hopes up, I'drecommend either telling your customers what you're out of before they start exploring the menu or cross it off the menu. Thecalamari is nice meaty cuts but it's heavily battered with a bland whitish batter. Also, the way the calamari was presented wasodd to me. The large spoon which contained the calamari was resting in the dipping sauce. That seems like a waste of sauce andtook away from how much is available for dipping. The fish and chips was ok, but the fish might have been a bit overlydeep-fried. Perhaps snapper is not the best fish for fish and chips because it's so thin. I can't recommend either of the fooditems we ordered. Would I go back? Yes because I hear thier chowder is delicious and that location is truly special."
