"Restaurant is nice. Food was good but oven potatoes are not my favourite. Not really suitable for kids. Just one dish was on the menu for kids. We were a little early so the restaurant was a bit empty but it just lacked atmosphere. No background music so it was deadly quiet and even though the waitress was nice it just wasn't friendly. Simple little things could have improved our experience. Smiling goes a long way and is free."

"Un soir d’un été plutôt chaud, nous avions décidé depuis longtemps de nous rendre à Montagnola pour apprécier une cuisine d’un lointain souvenir de vacances. Sur la route qui mène à la piscine et pour ceux qui se souviennent l’ancien centre sportif de l’UBS, juste après le cimetière sur la route des Grotti, la bâtisse qui une fois abritait un piano bar du nom de Montmartre, nous retrouvons ce soir le restaurant Tabla, un doux mélange de cuisine indienne et méditerranéenne. La location a subi des rénovations en profondeur et s’est transformée en un lieu méconnaissable d’où il en découle une atmosphère de tranquillité et de calme. Un fond musical vient compléter le tout et je vous invite à ne pas vous arrêter seulement sur la terrasse, mais de saisir l’occasion pour visiter les différentes pièces qui composent cette structure. En effet, du rez-de-chaussée où vous pourrez admirer les murs de pierres et de briques au cachet très original, en passant par la cave qui tel un caveau renferme les nectars embouteillés et mis en valeur par une disposition particularisée. Bien entendu, n’oublions pas le bar et la pièce maîtresse qui est la cuisine. A l’étage une autre salle, un autre restaurant destiné temporairement à une autre aire asiatique où s’entremêle épices et saveurs tout aussi recherchés, qu’est l’art culinaire thaïlandais, vietnamien plutôt qu’indonésien. Le chef prépare aussi bien les mets à base de viandes, poissons et légumes aux parfums de l’Orient et vous fera revivre la fascination des voyages lointains en réveillant nos sens. Bien entendu, parmi ce doux mélange de cuisines orientales, les végétariens ne seront pas oubliés et trouveront une carte élaborée exclusivement pour eux, à l’extérieur sur la terrasse ou à l’intérieur si le temps ne le permet pas. On nous explique que durant la rénovation du restaurant Twist de Agno, la cuisine de cette autre location est l’hôte de Montagnola.Mais revenons à notre soirée et aux plats proposés pour le touriste de passage au Tessin depuis de nombreuses années et qui désirerait changer ses habitudes et l’espace d’un soir oublier les costines, la polenta ou simplement les grillades estives. Ce restaurant se place en excellente alternative et pour l’avoir essayé, je suis certain que ce sera une adresse que je garderai à l’esprit lorsque je déciderai de manger asiatique. La carte propose aussi bien un menu dégustation composé de six plats pour le prix de CHF 85.- ou la carte avec quelques propositions bien sélectionnées. Pour ma part, je me suis laissé conseiller par le personnel, disponible, sympathique et très serviable. Un mixte d’entrées suivi par du poulet en sauce accompagné de riz et comme dessert une crème yoghourt à la mangue. Le tout pas trop fortement épicé, juste ce qu’il fallait !"
