"cafe and store of the family cameron (james cameron and suzy amis) that supports a plant-based diet. the hotel is located in a charming vintage building in the heart of greytown. greytown is a popular destination for weeks or day trips near wellington and also offers schoc chocolates that has a vegan series, so there are now two good reasons to visit the city! the business and the caffe are charming with beautiful seating outdoors in the gardens where they grow the sweet they use in caffe. limited seating on bar stools inside. the menu is not exciting for me as long as vegan, but it is not open for long as hopeful when it is established, they will expand their decisions. they had a raw cheesecake on the menu, but it was all gone, so I had the marble floor plum cake. that was disappointing because the baker used banane as a substitute, so it was in the ground banana cake with a little plumen up. I always think that the use of bananas as egg substitutes is not ideal and there are so many other things they can do that do not taste so much the cake. or use a genuine vegan recipe that has no eggs first place. but maybe the baker is new to vegan baking. hopefully they will improve. the idea of a plum cake was beautiful and at least it wasn't her old bus standard vegan chocolate cake, which she got anywhere else, which offers a vegan cake. they make and sell their own honey. I just asked if the eating was vegan and not about the honey, because I didn't know they were in honey and accepted when they said it was vegan, it was free from honey. I would check the next time more carefully if they think it's vegan to have honey. also on the menu was a baked potato with soymint and a rice risotto. for me this is the type of daily eating that I cook at home and I was not interested enough to order them. again, I just think that they are very new and not yet sued to offer everything in vegan kitchen and of course there are some diners who would love these options. but not me. the load itself is lovely and with all kinds of tasty, of which I have not yet seen in nz. they also sell nice blocks so that they are now going to greytown and buy a vegan ice to eat as they stroll around. I would go back and next time hopefully it will be more on the menu that attracts. update 2020 so I went back and found it much improved thanks to quality. better menu, better version, more spacious. updated from previous review on 2015-03-20"
