"The chef doesn't always greet people at the door as he has other things to do, but he did us on this visit. I briefly mentioned to him that I'd be a nuisance to him as I'm vegan. He said that I wouldn't find anything on the menu and then asked what I'd like. I said something warm and without animal products. He said that he'd figure something out. Indeed he did. Palm hearts , portabello mushroom, other mushrooms, grilled tomato and grilled sweet pepper. He prepared them to be tastey. Afterwards I asked if he does much vegan stuff. He said that he gets asked for special things regularly and when he knows in advance it's very helpful. He did a lovely job of it and his front staff was friendly and professional too."

"Had their fish and chips. Halibut 2 pce. Look at pictures. It's not that it was bad, but it was far from great, OK best for pub food. Server made a special drink, but it was tasteless, hardly flavored water, but did not want the feedback I think? But enough for that. The service was missing strongly, although there was MAYBE 10% cap? Once checked, how it doesn't taste again until it was time to go, no refill, never asked if I wanted to close something in front of the kitchen... I wanted dessert, but nothing. And the place was dead. I left a bigger tip than deserved... I'll take care of some really good fish and chips next time. like Jo Classes in Courtenay!"

"I had Pizza Margarita and my wife had Piatto Di mozzarella, both were really good. As I did to italy his not exactly the same experience, but it was much closer than we had in other restaurants on Vancouver Island so far. Server was super polite and helped with allergies no problem. Whole restaurant is really beautiful. "That was meant for me this morning and several other mothers for brunch. We were never disappointed. Benedict eggs were cooked hard with Tepid sauce. Stirring was hardly warm. Bacon was either raw or burned. The potatoes were made dry and almost unusable until the point. One of our group was assured that there would be gluten-free options, but that obviously did not contain dessert. She got a jar type dessert, which should be warm, but was partially frozen. Everything the restaurant could serve without cooking was unbearable. This is not the first time I was disgusted with the meal, the $60 Lions banquet I had visited was not much better than the brunch. I was hoping it was a unique mistake of a new cook. Apparently not. There was no complaint from the service. Our server was apologetic and almost embarrassing. I feel for him and more so my son, who pays a person for four of us for the whole meal at $37. He told me how sorry he was.... it wasn't his fault.... It was yours!!!"
