"This restaurant, allied to one that has been open for a number of years in Sierre, has just opened in a building that has just been extensively renovated. The main dining room is in a brand new addition. We went on a Friday night and...the place was almost full. It is a little unfair to review a restaurant after it has just opened and before it has been able to shake down. However, having said that, our meal was frankly disappointing. Rather than choose à la carte or one of the fixed menus listed in a very nicely produced menu book, we asked the owner to propose what he did best. He suggested three dishes and some plain rice. The prawn beignet was badly undercooked with the batter neither crispy nor done, the sesame seed encrusted fish was bland and had a poor texture, the Sichuan porc, (listed as spicy) was not and was also bland. Service, with the exception of a charming young Korean man who studied at the hotel school in Crans, was on a par with the cooking. The wine list has an interesting selection of wines from the Valais with some well known small producers featured. We had a very pleasant rosé from Maurice Zufferey whose winery is just outside Sierre, down in the valley. It would be nice if this could turn out to be a winner but on present showing, unlikely"

"We ate here twice as members of a small group staying at the hotel. The food was beautifully prepared, fresh and made with local ingredients. We chose from a set menu and still found the food choices to be quite good. Two of the unusual appetizers we encountered were juice and vegetarian bagel. The juice was local and fresh and the bagel was just that, but with local cheese and roasted vegetables, really quite a nice appetizer. The main courses were excellent, and the desserts really delicious. If you are lucky you will be seated in the outer room with views to the mountains. It's a lovely setting."
