"First of all, it is well worth visiting the pretty town of Haslach in the Mühlviertel of Upper Austria, an important fabric centre with an annual textile fair in the summer. There are several nice places to eat on the picturesque town square. We arrived just after the official lunch period (which finishes at 1:30) but could still take advantage of the very reasonably priced three-course "Menü" (€8); the expression "cheap eats" does not, however, do justice to the cuisine. There is indoor seating, but in the summer almost everyone will enjoy the "Gastgarten" a raised platform in front of the restaurant. Good service, too: Herr and Frau Schneider were unfailingly helpful."

"Had dinner on a raft here - it's a must-do! Make a reservation for 8 or more and you can be motored up the river on a raft with all the cold meat, veg, curd, salad, bread, and drinks you need for a perfect evening of unique dining. Beautiful on a summer's evening, and guaranteed some fun from the punting back to the restaurant! One of my favourite meals ever, and so cheap for the experience!"
