"This place is kind of funny and adorable. They 've got nothing but veg meats. It 's an Asian store and the veg meats are all Asian, no Gardein or anything like that. They have vegan beef jerky and stuff! The veg shrimp don 't really taste like anything, but they 're very cute. It 's kind of like eating animal crackers and being like, Awww, it 's so cute to eat these animals, all the while knowing you 're actually eating something that contains no animal flesh or secretions. I know some people are against veg meats and if you 're one of them, more power to ya, I suppose, but Layonna Veg seems really unique and cool and fun to me. It 's small and packed with stuff. I got some kind of slab of barbeque slices that were like ham and I put them on a Cuban-style sammy with some vegan cheese and it was not the healthiest thing I ever ate but I enjoyed it very much. No need to make any animals suffer to fill certain cravings!"

"Great food and atmosphere! We ordered the cheese meat platter, lox on waffles, fish tacos, caesar salad, and asian salad, and it was all delicious. The only minor complaint I have is I added the chicken to my salad and assumed it was grilled but came out fried not greasy and very crunchy. The chicken at most places are grilled when it's on a salad, but it was my fault to not have asked. As for the drinks, they were refreshing like the sangria and pear bubbly. Excellent customer service. This place is such a wonderful part of downtown Alameda"

"When my favorite fast food restaurant closed two years ago at Lake Park in Oakland, I said farewell to the good old non-trendy restaurants. After all, we had lost Biffs, Daves, The Hofbrau in recent years. There were three Kwikways built around 1960. The sauce on the hamburgers is a brownish mixture of onion, chili, tomatoes, onions that you don't find anywhere else. I even frozen some burgers for posterity when I knew Lake Park closed its doors, see OldiesCountry.com for all history) ... But, lo and behold, happened from 62nd and International Blvd after an A;s game we ran into the familiar ‘lightning’ logo. Despite his very bad as in dangerous) situation, I had to try to see if it was the same. Actually, his called Kwikway chicken now but I have always gone for the burgers. And, yes, it's still the same though you don't want to go there in the evening and take a friend or two... This is five star-terriory – Qiuality, price, even ambience * in a strange way, although it seems that the front façade has been rebuilt, but the big logo sign is fantastic..."
