This place is amazing! Stopped in on a Tuesday at around 2 and received great service at Misaki. All of the stores are independently owned and having interesting finds. View all feedback.
What L'Erin G doesn't like about True:
We heard this place was amazing and so we decided to check it out. There were shops and things but no one was friendly. We walked into a couple shops and no one even looked up. There was an amazing Rolling Smoke BBQ spot in the place that was sooo good. Friendly and helped service and suggestions. We loved their food. We also stopped at Maria 's Empanadas , which wasn 't bad either. Attitudes could have been more ple... View all feedback.
I was racially profiled by the sales associate. I walked into the store with a few friends, looked around tried one of the perfume testers and walked out. As I was walking out the associate stopped me and said I saw you take one of the merchandise pieces and put it in your pocket are you going to pay for it? I looked at her in shock as I barely even touched anything in the store. I told her I did not take anything. She got red and asked again, I doubled down and let her know again she saw something that never happened she got nervous and was so sure in her profiling she asked me to empty/show my pockets which again showed what I told her a few times already, nothing from the store. She barely apologized and walked away. I hope you’re mindful of the treatment, lack of training and acknowledgment of my experience with no real attempts to rectify before you choose to support this store.
During a friend's weekend, two of my lifelong friends and I decided to explore Stanley Marketplace while waiting for their flights. We went to True and were quite disappointed and discouraged by how one of our friends was treated. Despite never being greeted by the person working at True while looking through the store, my friend, the only dark-skinned black person in our group, was accused of stealing. When my friends and I had left the store, we were followed by the employee working at True, a white person, who said they saw my friend stealing and ordered her to empty her pockets. My friend had purchased a lip scrub from another store, which was in her pocket, that the employee at True then tried to grab out of her hand. When the True employee realized that we had not stolen anything, they offered an apology, guised in reasons that they thought my friend had stolen. This is an obvious example of racial discrimination and I'm hopeful that True takes appropriate measures to educate their employees on racial targeting and bias, especially in a customer facing role. We had a lot of time to explore the Marketplace and True certainly lost out on our business, in the moment and in the future.
If you get a gift for someone be sure to say, oh, by the way, get your returns back in 2 weeks! or they will simply point at your receipt and tell you about the 2 week return policy (got Christmas gifts for my wife staff were disinterested when she asked to return or exchange 3 weeks later, even though none of the items were worn, and many of the same items were still on the racks unhelpful advice was sell the stuff on Facebook . I sent multiple emails simply and professionally asking for an explanation or an owner to talk to, no response. We definitely won 't be shopping there again, and won 't recommend. Some sort of empathetic response would have helped a lot, likely would have avoided this rating and commentary mainly want to offer a heads up to others who may be thinking of shopping here. At very least, mind the return policy, or you 're out of luck.
Love finding beautiful and unique items you won’t see elsewhere. This place is my go-to for the best gifts and I always end up with a “gift” for me too!
