The Fox - Basingstoke and Deane

We have been enjoying meals at The Fox for many years. You could guarantee the same high standard every time. We were disappointed that some items weren't available on the Menu. Just felt the Restaurant lacked atmosphere and needs decorating.

We stopped at this restaurant on the way to a party and both decided to order the sea bass. The dish arrived quickly and looked fantastic. The portions were generous, and even though I didn't think I could finish it all, the meal was so delicious that I ended up eating my husband's potatoes as well. It was too good to leave any bit uneaten! This was probably the tastiest meal I've ever had at a pub, and it even surpassed many restaurants.

We hosted my daughter's wake at The Fox and Vicky and her staff were extremely accommodating. Everything was executed flawlessly, the food was delicious and there was an abundance of tea, coffee, and fruit juices. The cozy atmosphere with a log fire was a comforting touch following my daughter's funeral. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you, Vicky, for making a difficult day a little easier to bear.

Really lovely meal for my dads 80th. Great food, lovely staff would definitely recommend. The cheese souffle was amazing!

Things have sadly changed here for the worse since the new owner took over. I gave it a try a few weeks ago having been a regular at this restaurant. Unfortunately my meal wasn’t great, but put it down to one of those days and gave it another go today. Firstly the beer was off and that was changed and charged for too. The other issue was my mushroom stroganoff dish which was full of incredibly chewy, rough mushrooms, but worse they hadn’t been cleaned properly and consequently gritty. My business partner had the same, we both left more than half our meal, but nothing was said either by the waiter or the chef. Yes, I should have said something, but frankly I’d already decided I wasn’t coming back, so couldn’t see the point. It’s a shame that this restaurant seems to be left to the staff to self manage (never works) and is way off the standard it used to be.
