The Olde Shears Inn - Calderdale

This restaurant in Halifax is one of the oldest pubs in town, dating back to the 17th century. It still maintains its original beams and cozy nooks and crannies, giving it a charming and historic atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of traditional dishes like corned beef pasties, homemade soup, fish and chips, and beef burgers, all served with mushy peas and gravy. The beer at this restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The food is also top-notch. You simply have to try it for yourself to truly appreciate it.

We'd visited the pub in the past when staying at the nearby Travelodge (as recommended by the Receptionist). The Host was just as welcoming and friendly as before and the menu selection to our liking. The food was delicious.

Visited the Shears for Sunday lunch. Really busy and now I understand why. Food was really good. Had the giant home made Yorkshire filled with beef and gravy and my partner had the roast. Massive portions and great value for money. Found out all the pies and puddings are home made.

An impromptu visit with family who were feeling a little bit peckish and we were not disappointed. The hand pulled beers were spot on and the bottle of Malbec was perfect. The traditional pub fayre was well cooked and well presented by friendly and welcoming staff. All in all a most enjoyable experience. A little tricky to find but well worth a visit.
