We were visiting Blackwater SP and staying nearby and was looking for a good place to eat. Canaan Valley BBQ did not disappoint. Opened since 2019, the restaurant is warm and relaxed, offers a variety of bbq options, and decent proportions. We went w the Plates to Share Double Trouble 1/2# pull pork, 1/2 chicken, 2 sides, plus cornbread. I liked the chicken alot! The chili powdered, smokey beans were great! Pork was... What William Bartles doesn't like about Canaan Valley Bbq:
We were traveling through our home state of West Virginia in the vicinity of Canaan Valley State Park and decided to stop here at Canaan BBQ to grab something along the way. Knowing the area somewhat, we expected that it was there to take advantage of the park and ski area, which caters to folks from the larger cities in DC, Northern VA etc! We felt that the place was somewhat overpriced as we ordered what they call... View all feedback.
Hands down, the best brisket sandwich I've ever had. The sides were great, too. Wow. The only thing this place needs is a napping area for post meal recovery.
By 4:30 in the afternoon, many menu items were not available. Pulled pork was very fatty. Peppers and onions in the baked beans were uncooked and crunchy. The ribs were not falling off the bone. The best part of the meal was the beer. The meal cost over $50 for two people.
Over priced ,they only had one sauce and it was awful the cone bread was very very dry and the Mac and Cheese was terrible prepackaged cheap couldn’t eat it. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Pulled pork is awesome, so is the chicken and the nachos. They have a bar, draft beer, fountain drinks, and many sides. We loved it.
Food was amazing. We had a party of four and got the BBQ Sampler and Side Sampler. Plenty of food. The chicken was amazing and the green beans were delicious. Definitely visit again.
