The Chinese food at this restaurant reminds me of the dishes my family enjoyed when we lived in the NY/Westchester area. The ambiance is simple and standard. What User doesn't like about Hunan Gardens:
I ordered from the lunch menu and had a delicious eggplant with garlic sauce. It wasn't too spicy or salty, and it was clear that it was made with care and fresh ingredients. The same can be said for their pork fried rice. The oolong tea was also delicious. This was my first visit but it definitely won't be my last. I also appreciated the strict sanitary measures implemented by the staff. View all feedback.
We went to this restaurant for lunch and received friendly and excellent service. Our food arrived quickly and piping hot. My husband enjoyed his hot and sour soup, while I opted for wonton soup. I thought the dumplings in the soup were delicious, although I wished the broth had more flavor. It seems they cater to the local taste preferences by using less salt, but I would add soy sauce next time. The crispy noodles were particularly tasty. We both chose from the lunch combo specials, which included soup and a vegetable roll. My meal also came with a choice of white or fried rice. Although we weren't thrilled with our entrees, I believe we simply made the wrong choices. I noticed other dishes on neighboring tables that looked more appealing to me. My husband tried the chicken lo mein, which he found to be a bit bland and added duck sauce for extra flavor. I ordered the Mongolian pork, which consisted of thin strips of pork with onions and scallions, and found it to be average. The only downside was the mushy interior of the fried vegetable roll. However, I did enjoy the pork fried rice with its flavorful pieces of pork. Overall, I would like to return and try a different entree as I believe the restaurant is worth another visit.
I am planning to visit this restaurant on Friday after reading the reviews. People seem to either love it or hate it, with one reviewer mentioning that there are better choices available. What is interesting is that this is one of the only sit-down Chinese restaurants in Boca/Delray! I will report back on the food, which seems to be amazing, and the good service.

The combination plates offer a generous amount of food, including a big, hot, and sour soup, a very good egg roll, decent rice, and dessert (two pots of rich chocolate ice cream for less than $20). The shrimp and lobster sauce dish featured six large shrimp that were perfectly cooked and really tasty. The portions are large, so they quickly offer a container for leftovers. This place must be one of the best deals in the city.
As I have mentioned previously, even in the summertime, HG tends to get very crowded on weekend nights. While I still believe that HG offers good value, our most recent visit was disappointing. I am deducting one star. The service at HG has consistently been unrefined. On a Saturday night not too long ago, our server seemed completely overwhelmed. My wife's dish didn't arrive until everyone else had nearly finished eating. Despite multiple attempts to inquire about her meal, it took two visits to the front desk before her food finally arrived, with no apologies given. I recommend arriving either very early or after 7:30 PM to avoid such issues.
