destined to meet friends for a pub lunch, and it could not have been perfect! great eating (I had the steak burger and chips; the homemade coleslaw was a nice note, and the humble chips perfectly fried,) friendly staff and a really warm, welcoming environment. View all feedback.
What 518margaretl doesn't like about The Woolpack Inn:
We love this pub for its old English pub feel. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great but the food is not what it used to be. Sadly it tastes and looks bought in, the roast beef dinner was minimal and Yorkshire looked pre-bought in. Gravy was tasteless and roast potatoes were so uniform they surely were bought in. Chocolate pudding nice. View all feedback.
We came to visit beverley and came over this pub! dog-friendly and the atmosphere was beautiful, the people are so friendly and nothing was too much annoyed. a man has cut us through at both locations (not regret his name) was very friendly, chatting. eating was amazing, not eating the normal mülleimer, right country pub and the meat of a local metzger and organic branch! Many thanks for feeling so welcome and we will be back when we visit again from some, highly recommended and pre-call call and book, especially on a Sunday!
Had a delightful Sunday roast dinner with a good pint of hobgoblin. we were a little disappointed that the reduced choice on Sunday menu was shown differently than those outside the pubs (or on facebook) because it made it difficult for one of our parties due to their nutritional requirements.
Absolute little gem. Warm and friendly pub in Beverley. Fabulous Sunday lunch and great service. Certainly be going again.
Having not eaten here before we overfaced ourselves not knowing the size of the portions! We each ordered starters…..my partner enjoyed his whitebait I had the garlic mushrooms….a good portion of a variety of mushrooms but oh dear they were over salted making the sauce not very nice. We both had a steak and wainwrights beer pie….lovely home made individual pies but again spoilt by excessive salt n the gravy! My partner is convinced this is deliberate to make the customer thirsty so having to drink more!!!! Maybe he has a point!!!
Went to Beverley for a few days and after a day at the races we had booked a table for our evening meal. It was Tuesday night so it was Pie Mash Night. If you don't want pie Tuesday is not your night. However I do like pie and I have to say this is one of the best ideas I have seen in a pub. Four different pies to choose from and lovely creamy mash with a side of mushy peas and Woolpack gravy. I plumped for Beer, beef and mushroom pie, it was delicious. So two meals and four drinks and the bill came to just over £25. Could you want any better. Everything was so nice that on leaving we booked a table for the following night to sample the normal menu. Once again everything was beautifully cooked, we both had chicken which was lovely and my wife had some of the largest chips I have seen which she said were delicious . All in all when we are in Beverley again we will be calling here especially for Pie Night.
