If you've never experienced hibachi, then this isn't a bad place to start! The show is always fun. I will say that my steak was a bit over-cooked, and my friends' lobster was overdone and chewy I have been to places where the show had more tricks, but our chef definitely covered all the classics. If you're a hibachi officiando, I'd say this is more of a beginner-level restaurant. The atmosphere is cool, though! The... View all feedback.
What Evan Quinn doesn't like about Tokyo Japanese Steak House:
The food was okay: Soup was great, Vegetables where excellent, Salad wasn't good, Fried rice was lacking lack of normal ingredients made it lack luster Protein seafood was over cooked: Scallops rubbery, Steak was precut and over done, Chicken over cooked, Shrimp overcooked Desert was good. The chef was quiet spoken and didn't really put on a show just went through the motions which was a bummer. The Service was okay, food and drinks came promptly. My wife and I where excited to come here. We don't believe we will return.
Great menu selection. Food tastes flavorful and fresh. Service was good, unfortunately the communication regarding our bill wasn’t clear based on the type of reservation we had. Overall, I would recommend Tokyo Japanese Steak House especially for small parties of 2 or 3 people.
We made reservations for 2 and a high chair for a special occasion, and day of called in advance due to a bad accident that was going to make us late, they said they were busy and we may have to wait a little bit, but still come. We were 30 minutes late, and had to wait over an hour to be seated. They were so rude each time we asked for any update. We should have left, but at that point, we were invested. Then, our chef was not fun, had no personality, which you go to Hibachi partially for the experience, so that was disappointing. The food had gone done in quality and taste, and as soon as we got all of our food, she bright us boxes and the check. Then they add 20% tip to your bill, which is fine, but they then give you a bill to sign that shows suggested 20% tip, 35% etc. really that would be 40% tip!!! I wonder how many people have mistakenly given them so much of a tip. There is another place in university place in Tacoma, just google hibachi Tacoma, go there. This place is ick.
Love the food there especially the yum yum yum yum yum sauce
I've never done hibachi before, the chef and servers were so nice and funny, and the food was delicious. I will say I wish they put some fish sauce in the fried rice to really kick it up but the portions were so giant and yummy.
