This restaurant serves traditional Ukrainian food. Perogies, holobchi, borscht. Large portion sizes and oh so delicious. They also have a takeout section. Located in the Betel Waterfront Centre- they are currently in the process of relocating to Paul's Grill- north of Gimli at Glen Bay Road. View all feedback.
What Vincenza Marini doesn't like about Paul's Grill:
Not the same great food! Very disappointing. Way...way...overpriced. Over $100.00 for 4 people, no drinks, only water and coffee. No dessert either. Wouldn't have minded if the food had actually been good. Only good thing were the perogies and kubasa. We went on buffet night, so unless you're someone who just wants to fill their plate over and over with mediocre food, I would not recommend you go here as that can als... View all feedback.
Went here with family for the supper buffet. Perogies, halubshi, borscht, and other Ukie goodies were all excellent. Nice little place as well. Friendly and prompt service to boot! Will be coming by again next time I'm out at gimli...:)
An absolute "must" for any self-respecting Winnipegger to try. Sitting in an unlikely spot tucked into a mixed-use building and slightly off the beaten path, it was a pleasure to discover that the original Alycia's recipes are in full glory here!Awesome beet borscht, perogies, cabbage rolls, kulbassa, and all Ukrainian favorites. The decor is a little less Baba-campy, which is a good thing, but there are some nioce and interesting Ukrainian artifacts on display.
Hope the people around Gimli support this place so that we can enjoy visiting them again when we are in the area. Our group of four dined at 5:00 PM on a Saturday evening. There was a steady flow of traffic. In spite of being busy, Rose, our server, provided excellent service.Cabbage rolls, perogies and kielbasa are all good. The borscht, in my opinion, could be improved.Entrees range from $15 - $19. If you don't have a huge appetite, share an entrée.....and leave room for dessert !! The restaurant is licensed. I would prefer to have a bill placed on our table rather than having to wait in line to get one at the cashier.Perogies can be ordered for take-out at $9.00 per dozen. It's worth the drive to enjoy a filling, traditional Ukrainian meal. Many customers were seen leaving with "doggie bags" to enjoy the left-overs at home.
Just so people are aware, Alycia's has moved North of Gimli (about 10 minute drive). The food is well worth the trail. My wife and I live in Gimli but chose drive to Alycia's for super. Well worth the trip. I had the Rib Dinner which included a full rack of ribs, 4 perogies, 2 cabbage rolls and coleslaw for a very reasonable $23.00. The ribs were very tender with a nice tasting BBQ sauce, the perogies are HUGE, and the cabbage rolls were also good. I love my perogies and have multiple people in my family that make home made perogies, and these rival any perogies that I have tried!Great meal with a nice drive in the country equals a nice evening out! Recommend this to all to venture north and try a great home cooked Ukrainian meal.
Alycia's do not skimp on the filling nor the flavour with their perogies. The cabbage rolls are amazing. The sausage is served in large portions. Great job. They really Owners very friendly and welcoming. What a bonus to Gimli. Wish you all the best in your business venture in the new area.
