What R doesn't like about Cafe Lalo:
Super pricey (for a family of four buying a coffee and pastry each, you’re looking at $60+ plus tip) for the quality (just so-so), crowded, slow service. The pastries I ordered looked delicious but tasted like they’d been sitting in the display for weeks or had freezer-burn. The only reason to go is to experience the atmosphere and French decor. Love Love Cafe Lalo. Great food and desserts. The best place to have an adult meet up that is not a restaurant . Hope reopens soon

read moreThis charming cafe is a must-visit for those looking to experience a touch of Paris in New York City. The French decor and cozy atmosphere make it perfect for a romantic date or a post-dinner stop. While some reviewers found the prices to be on the higher side, the variety of cakes and pastries, along with the excellent service, make it worth the splurge. The desserts, in particular, received high praise, with the red velvet cake standing out as a favorite. The hot chocolate was also a hit among customers. However, some found the food to be hit or miss, with complaints about cold plates and strange tastes in some dishes. Overall, this cafe is a bustling spot with delicious desserts and a friendly staff, making it a great place to satisfy your sweet tooth or enjoy a cup of coffee with friends.

read moreSo for my first time coming here I was immediately wowed as soon as I walked in.
Two words: Tourist trap! Slow service, expensive, tiny cakes and pie slices, and decor that makes you want to vomit.
Our experience here had already turned into the stuff of family loreWhat awful service! The waitress was generally pissed off and irritable.
