Was happy to see a vegan place near the hotel where my conference was, but the gluten-free Caprese sandwich I ordered was disappointing. It was a GF bun with 2 slices of tomato and vegan mozzarella and nothing else. It was OK but would have been better with some vegan pesto or something savory to make the bread less dry. I should have ordered more carefully. Many other items on the menu sounded good. View all feedback.

so disappointed! I heard great things about this place and we've made a point since we visited. we ordered the wails and they were cold. the sandwiches were mediocre that they fell apart and had very little taste. Maybe they had a bad day, but we won't be back. View all feedback.
The restaurant offers a variety of creative vegan and plant-based dishes. The atmosphere is charming and inviting, with a friendly staff ready to greet you.
I recently visited Vegan Picnic for the first time today. My friend and I traveled from the Financial District for lunch - she is vegan and I am not, but I enjoy eating vegetarian/vegan when possible. We both ordered the fried chicken sandwich and found it to be delicious! I don't have much experience with vegan meats, but I thought it was crispy and flavorful. The bun, sauce, and coleslaw on the side were also great. The restaurant is spacious and very clean, unlike some other places in the area. They offer indoor and outdoor seating options. I would definitely return to try more of their sandwiches in the future.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the chicken patty in the crispy chicken sandwich is Whole Foods 365 brand. I was expecting something homemade, or at least crispy (it was not crispy at all), but damn if I don't love Whole Foods fake chicken. Nothing special that you couldn't make yourself at home, but it was still undeniably tasty. So you still get 4 stars from me.
My wife brought me to this restaurant to try the food and as a meat lover, I was very impressed with the meatball sandwich I had. I highly recommend everyone to come and try the food here. Don't forget to also try the brownies for dessert!
I was visiting from So Cal to visit my daughter and on my last day I NEEDED my vegan food. I was piece mealing options from normal restaurants. I made it work but I was excited to find this place. It was a 2 minute walk from my hotel (kicking myself why I didn 't research sooner) Arrived at this very cute and clean place and asked the host to give recommendations. He was two days in and sent the person from the back who was more versed with the menu. He was extremely polite and she was even more helpful. We ordered the VP Burger, VP meatballs and Crispy chicken sandwiches, all recommended by the lady in the back, TeeTee. Each sandwich came with choice of coleslaw or macaroni salad. We chose the macaroni salad. Great choice. Out of the sandwiches, we loved the the chicken sandwich, burger, then meatball sandwich; in that order. Coming from the LA area, we are spoiled with vegan options but for what this was, I was satisfied. If you live in SF or just visiting, this is a good spot to satisfy your vegan needs. If looking for healthy vegan, this is not for you. But if you want a good picnic option this is worth a try. Sorry we ate all of our food and didn 't take pics. Oh and we ordered the cinnamon roll and Brownie. Absolutely delicious!!!!
