"John's Lunch came highly recommended and definitely lived up to expectations. The location is great with ferry and bus access at Woodside and easily accessible regardless of where you're coming from. The service was prompt and really friendly. They know they're good but they are humble about it, and this is probably what makes them the best. The haddock was probably the best I've ever had and the rice pudding was great, too. I will definitely return in the future and I think you should too."

"This is a small but mighty unassuming fish and chip restaurant that delivers in a big way! I recently visited early on a Sunday evening and there was soon a line up out the door and along the deck waiting for take out or eat in meals. I tried the House Special meal consisting of a large piece of haddock as well as breaded whole clams and fries. For $16.99, this serving could have satisfied at least 2 people and provided me with yummy leftovers. The food was fresh and delicious - the clams were some of the best I've ever had. Table service was a bit slow due to the high take out order volume but was pleasant and attentive when they were able to come by. The decor is not fancy but is as down to earth as its menu offerings. This is a definite on my list of return visits for fantastic local seafood."

"The restaurant is located in the harbour. The view is great. The service is excellent. The food is magnificent. We have ordered lobster meals. The lobster is at least 1.5-2 lbs. it’s cooked just right. The cole slaw and potato salad are yummy. The apple crisp is on the sweet side but it’s still good. The buns are cold but upon request the server sent them back to be toasted. I had difficulty in cracking one claw and the server helped me to cut it. Overall I’m extremely happy with Murphy’s. I’ll definitely return."

"Got in late to Halifax and this place was recommended by our hotel. A short walk and we came upon it. Glad we did it made our first night turn out great. Sever was friendly, beer was cold and appetizers we had were cooked perfect. Great bar and tables laid out nicely. Made a second stop through our vacation week as it really is a fun place to hang out."
