"Well where do I start with my review of the Cochin restaurant? Firstly having never dined there before we were not sure what to expect. We had only read reviews on TripAdvisor and Google which had been very complemently about the food and service so we wanted to give it a try. We had a table booked for 2 at 8.30, and we were met at the door and shown to our table by the window by a very pleasant waiter. He prompty brought over our menus, and we began to peruse through. The menu had a extensive selection of fish dishes which pleased me as I love fish, so I felt spoilt for choice as my expectations grew. The waiter was very attentive and informal and very knowledgeable about the dishes on their menu, and was happy to answer any questions we had. I finally settled on the fishermans soup for starter. Sadly this was a big let down! Very watery, no depth of flavour and next to no fish in an actual fish soup!!! My friend ordered the minty chilli prawns, the sauce which coated the prawns was tasty and zingy and the prawns cooked nicely however sadly the portion size and presentation was disappointing. Both starters seemed to arrive very quickly after ordering, which was a surprise. It seemed to me they had just been warmed through and thrown onto a plate. For my main course I ordered the mixed seafood curry which consisted of King fish,squid,prawns and mussels cooked in authentic Kerala special spice mixed sauce. The fish was cooked perfectly and the earthy Kerala special spice mixed sauce was the perfect accompaniment to the fish. Sadly the squid was over cooked and rubbery which was the only negative aspect to the dish. My friend overed the kuttanadan duck roast which consisted of slices of duck cooked in thick roast gravy sauce. The sauce had a lovely velvety rich flavour to it however the duck itself was a big let down as sadly it was tough a chewy. All in all some postives but also some negatives. If this was a school report it would probably read, 'tries hard but can do better '!!!"

"I was really looking forward to the food here but unfortunately I hated it. The curry goat was over cooked with no flavour at all. The oxtail was also tasteless, the only thing that was a bit better was the rice and peas. Really really disappointing after reading the good reviews. I was expecting a better experience."

"Went on a Saturday night and at first the only customers. We were greeted as we entered the hotel by a friendly gentleman who took us to our table. Again a friendly lady took our drinks order. For starters we had the duck and pancakes. They were delicious. For the main course my husband had the red chicken curry and I had a chicken with chilli and cashew nuts, together with an auborgine side and rice. I asked the waitress which rice was Thai and she just smiled so took it that the one I was indicating to was it. My husband had ordered boiled rice. But they both tasted the same. My husband found the curry less flavoursome than he would have liked, and I loved mine. All was cooked perfect and was served beautifully. Later another couple and a single diner came in. The venue is lovely and clean beautifully decorated. We will definately be coming back again. It is certainly worth a visit!"

"Very entertaining lunch with my wife and her work colleagues. Very friendly welcome and very a good range if dishes. Very convenient parking, albeit not a council-owned one so fees do apply on Sunday, but only £1.80, so not too bad."

"The food here is absolutely delicious. Portion sizes are more than generous too. Would have been 5 stars but disappointed when I made another order on-line today and waiting 10 minutes while it processed without success. Tried ringing to confirm my order but no reply. Drove down to the shop to find a note saying they were closed until 26th August. Their website stated they were open and nothing on the website to say they were closed. No answerphone message to say this either. Very disappointed as the food is definitely worth going back for."
