"Great food and great service. Admittedly the steaks are not cheap (but they are steaks, so what else do you expect? but they are worth it. Friendly, welcoming feel by the owners. Highly recommended."

"I visited here with my friend for a midweek evening meal. We have both been before. There is dedicated parking and the car park is pretty big. We walked though as she lives over the road. You don't need to boo but it's advised. This...place is always packed to the rafters and lots of people were getting turned away. The menu is standard for a Greene King pub. There is lots of choice, at decent prices and deals to be had. You order at the bar (or on your phone) and pay before the food comes. There is one queue for drinks and one for food. But it isn't well signed until you get to the front of the queue so there was a lot of confusion. The queue to order food was long and it creates a scrum at the bar / entrance. The food came out quickly. I had the steak salad and my friend had the Philly cheese sandwich. My steak was cremated. To the point where it was crunchy on the outside. The plate was a decent size portion though. My friend said her sandwich was nice but the steak was dry. I had Eton mess sundae for dessert and my friend had the cookie dough cheesecake. Both were okay. The clientele is a mixed bunch. Some very 'rough and ready' types that are very loud, drunk and obnoxious. Some families out for tea. A lot of tradesmen eating in groups after work. Some couples. They show football etc so it gets VERY loud and busy. For a quick and cheap bite, it's okay. Not somewhere you would pick for the food quality though. I didn't feel particularly COVID safe and was glad we had a table against the wall out of the way. We were glad to leave though. The place is certainly popular which is great for them. And it's cheap for food. But the service is pretty poor and you are just a number there, nothing more."

"My family loves the lakeland gate. personal, not too sharp! food average and sometimes poorly cooked. had a mixed grill, steak ordered rare, but was well done! meat on the meal was half the size of some of the others but obviously they are. all the same weight "

"The food was excellent and the service excellent. The dessert menu cannot be overlooked. We ordered chocolate cake, bread pudding with vanilla sauce and freshly fried churros with dulce de leche sauce. It was very difficult to choose one of the three as favorites."

"For a late anniversary meal. Rang to book a last-minute table and got an option to sit in 15 minutes perfectly for us. We ordered starter nets. The portions are quite large. I had a Cheesy-Pilz star with the most delicious bread and a cheesy chicken head with a side of chips and veg. Would not recommend getting veg and chips together, it was too much food! It was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The menu was big and there were many options for us. The service was pretty fast. Would recommend and go back"
