"While we had to get out in porto for a fish dinner. there are many fish restaurants in matosinhos, located on the Atlantic coast, about 45 minutes drive from the inner city of porto with the subway/train. there are many small fish restaurants along the main road...(Rua herois de franca most of them have a covered outdoor dining area which is next to the grill. with tripadvisor we decided for fish dish. the server showed us the list of the day catch and we chose a few for a record. there was a lot of food, all grilled, and we enjoyed an evening with fish and Portuguese wine."

"Our host suggested us to go to Matosinhos if we like fish and seafood, so striaght on our first evening in Porto we drove there for dinner. We were looking at restaurants from the outside, and O Valentim seemed so nice, we didn't look any further. And so glad we picked this restaurant wow! We had some amazing fish, it was incredibly fresh. We chose a local cod specialty, a dish shared between 2 persons, and we also had a grilled sea bream - really the best we ever tasted! If you like fish, you should really go to O Valentim, you won't be dissapointed!"

"This restaurant is located very close to a Yellow Bus Hop On Hop Off. One can easily have lunch there is the one hour time between buses. I had squid and my spouse had salmon. Both meals were excellent. the portions were quite good and the house wine was excellent. We ate outside. The inside would be quite good for a rainy day"

"My sister and I came her for lunch. While I went to the ladies room, my sister mistakenly thought that 1pax meant that each sardine was €12 and told the waiter it was too expensive. She came into the bathroom and said we needed to leave because it was too expensive and I said I would look at the menu. When I explained that 1pax means for 1 serving/person , we decided to stay. We were the only non-locals. The waiter my sister spoke to was very rude to her and thankfully we had another waiter who was very kind, attentive, and had a lovely sense of humor. We thoroughly enjoyed the sardines which were accompanied with grilled peppers, a salad, and boiled potatoes. The price was very reasonable and the food was absolutely delicious."

"We were in Porto for a few days before starting our Camino. We decided to prepare by travelling on the metro system to the departure point of the Camino. We were a little confused and out from the restaurant came a gentlemen who told us what direction to go in. We walked the boardwalk, along the coast, and then returned to the restaurant to have lunch. We met up with the same gentleman and sat and had a lovely lunch, at his suggestion, the menu of the day which was a traditional meal of sardines. Delicious! Friendly service and good food....a wonderful surprise!"
