"I live in matosinhos and I would consider this restaurant as one of my locals I have noted the one star review and can only say ask and the waitress will always do her best to explain or try to get out of the English...mentality and see your holiday as an adventure. Your lack of knowledge should not condemn this place The food and price is excellent and most customers locals and friendly Relax and take in the ambience........that’s Portugal! I have just had lunch there which consisted of sea bass plus all. of red wine puddim(Portuguese flan) coffee and euros If you come to Portugal for all British there’s Macdonald’s etc The Portuguese are the nicest, calmest most accepting people that I know...please treat them as such"

"Our host suggested us to go to Matosinhos if we like fish and seafood, so striaght on our first evening in Porto we drove there for dinner. We were looking at restaurants from the outside, and O Valentim seemed so nice, we didn't look any further. And so glad we picked this restaurant wow! We had some amazing fish, it was incredibly fresh. We chose a local cod specialty, a dish shared between 2 persons, and we also had a grilled sea bream - really the best we ever tasted! If you like fish, you should really go to O Valentim, you won't be dissapointed!"
