"One or the worst dinning experiences ever! I’ve had the same food before, prepared by the same chef, Mark Sulzinski, when he was chef at Creolina’s, which was a wonderful place. It was a hole in the wall type of Cajun restaurant but had a certain ambiance as well as a wait staff that was carrying to the customers, knowledgeable and offered superlative in service. In his new location, such is most certainly not the case. Not even close to being the case. His new restaurant, 2 Bourbon, formerly Porterhouse, is the antitheses of ambiance. It’s huge, generally has few customers but even with few customers you can expect to be seated in a lousy location. That seemingly is all as if they are expecting a huge crowd of others to fill empty spaces, which given their service, seating and prices will never happen. The service is untrained, totally amateur, and the bartendress is the absolute worst I have ever in my life encountered. When one doesn’t even know how to make a gin martini, insisting that a martini is only vodka; you know you are in trouble. I tried several times, yes, even repeatedly, but to no avail. I originally ordered Oysters Rockefeller as a starter, however was informed that it would take a long time as the oven had to be warmed. So, forget that. I opted for the soft shell crab. The crab was prepared perfectly, as I had expected. So were the vegetables. As for the rice, who couldn't’t prepare rice? The other dishes on the menu, almost a third of them are listed as “market price.” That means that their menu is stale, much like their crappy excuse for bread, and not worth the torment. Oh, as for that bread, it was horrid. So stale I wouldn't’t even put it in a bird feeder. My soft shell crabs, however, were perfectly prepared; totally delicious, I would think of rating this place as two stars. But, considering that the price of that simple dish being $24.95, no way. When Fort Lauderdale has other Cajun restaurants such as Shuck and Dive and the French Quarter, offering the same at nearly half the price, I honestly can’t award 2nd Bourbon more than a one star at best. I know I will never bother coming back, and I certainly won’t recommend it, even to an enemy. But I am sure that it will soon prove itself to be a failed business venture and the sooner it goes out of existence, the better. I confess that seeing the works of really good chef like Mark fail is bothering to me, but I can’t think of another place that is so richly deserving of total failure."
