"We hired Bittersweet for both our Wedding Cake and Groom’s cake. Their cakes were excellent in both taste and design. Our wedding cake was a very traditional--5 tiers with almond/wedding cake outer icing, almond/wedding cake, and cream cheese filling. Not only was it easily one of the best–if not the best–cake we’ve ever tasted, the design was elegant and perfectly matched our wedding. They also worked with us to create a stencil for the outer icing which matched the design of the bride’s veil and was absolutely beautiful. The Groom’s cake was a chocolate cake with cookies and cream icing and oreo garnish. We decided to go with Bittersweet for the Groom’s Cake well after we’d asked them to make the wedding cake and they worked with me to schedule a tasting during my bachelor weekend in New Orleans on pretty short notice. With no direction from me other than the flavors I wanted they made a Groom’s cake that was not only delicious, but was also a perfect companion to the Wedding Cake. Overall, Bittersweet made delicious, perfectly designed cakes, and were very accommodating in doing so. "Stopped by for a business lunch, had their famous James Brown Poor Boy and jambalaya. It was very delicious, super rich in flavor and a lot of food (and I ordered a small sandwich). Would definitely come back and try something else!"

"This old cafe is undoubtedly worth a visit if you're staying in New Orleans. It's located in the city park area and there's ample parking nearby; albeit I did go during the week so it wasn't very busy. The famous beignet and chicory coffee combo is quite delicious and you have the choice of sitting indoors which is properly air conditioned or outdoors which was my choice and I found it very pleasant. The prices are reasonable. I spent around $25 for three coffees and three beignets."
