"We came for a happy hour as it was recommended as one of the top in dc for a Sunday. we were slow and missed happy hour, but are so glad we left. we have spit from the Natural History Museum to here and it was worth it. the drinks were delicious and the food was fabulous. we had the thun fishtar, steak fries and local greens. we finished with the vanilla cream brûlée with Rhabarb-compot. that was delicious. my friend is on a low fodmap diet and they did a great job that didn't hit a wobble and garlic restriction. I would recommend bar charley to everyone."

"This is the kind of restaurant/bar located on my alley. It is not a huge restaurant, but has a lot of seating, and this is specialized in South Inspired food, and has an excellent, but not a wide choice of whisky. The service is friendly and hospitable, and I would say the mood here is jovial. I came here with my cousin on his recommendation because we were looking for a place to drink. We sat at the bar and I wasn't super hungry, but I really wanted to try something. I think I ordered a pecan/banana pudding cake or something. The food itself looked amazing when I saw people order it, but I think we had already eaten dinner at that time. So Dessert should have done this. The main reason we wanted to go there was for the whisky. There is no great selection, but there is a very remarkable and it is also really good. But what I love in this place is that this is one of those places where you find it hard to get a bottle that is not too expensive. Sure, there can be a light charge, but nothing ridiculous. If you are creative or simple quality South food, and really good whisky at reasonable prices, this is a must to visit."

"Avoid this place if you have a large group order for lunch. Individual orders are prioritized over group orders. We placed a group order hours in advanced and ended up waiting the entire lunch hour to receive half of what we ordered which by that time was cold. We later received the remainder of our order, however, I can't in good conscious recommend this location anymore, especially if you have a limit window for lunch."

"The sausage appetizer was very good. Those arrived promptly. We then ordered a soup each and our entrees. They brought out the soup and entrees together. Why? Obviously, they should have brought the soups first and the entrees later. When I questioned the food runner why, he looked lost for an answer. I was going to send the entrees back, but my wife said we'd work around it. Our table was cluttered with too many plates as a result. My wife got the wee pie flight. The items were good but the portions were very small. I got the fish and chips. The piece of fish was very large and tasty. The chips were okay. We also ordered dessert. There were only four choices and I was disappointed there weren't any really British desserts. We got peach tart tatine which was good. In addition, the dirty plates were very slow to be removed from our table."
