"We were disappointed in the future. our last experience was 18 months ago and the restaurant was then very nice with a romantic ambiente (table towels, cutlery, decoration, etc.) so we wanted to come back to celebrate a wonderful opportunity as last time. this. once it seemed economical and lost its romantic appeal. the food has suffered in quality. the soup was only warm. the Caesar salad was too fishy. the chicken frit was too long roasted, much too brown and a bit dried. the lemon cake tasted as if it was too long in the display case. the cream for the coffee was pampered and a new coffee needed. a total experience that will not lead to a recommendation, a complete opposite of our last visit."

"This restaurant used to be good, not any more. We went to Rae Jerry's for a family reunion dinner. The front desk staff was more interested in themselves than the customers. They barely acknowledged our reservation, then stuck us in the back of the...restaurant. The waiter was awful, rude and talked over us. The meal is a preset dinner where you pick your main dish (meat or fish) and cannot substitute anything. The waiter said he could not make any changes because he does not know how to make the change at the register. you cannot order a different side dish. The service was slow. The food was not worth the price. The sides were in small dishes, what you would expect from a fast food restaurant. Some of our party did not want to order a drink, which got the strangest look from the waiter, like he was mad the final bill would be less so he would get a smaller tip. I'll give them a tip, do not eat here!! Over-rated restaurant stuck in the 1970's with very high prices, poor quality and poor service. They just do not care about the customer."

"I struggled as to how many stars to give this place. 3 or 5? I decided 4 was good in part due to my experience and in part due to that of the people around me. We’ll see where I finish. The place is centrally located to the MTS centre and the local theatre. You can park in the comfort of underground parking at Portage place and walk across Portage at Edmonton. Though Google Maps leads you to the back of the Hydro building at Graham and Edmonton, you can go in through the Portage Avenue entrance which offers a nice walk through the Hydro lobby (you like it? you paid for it!) Rudy’s has a large menu. Appetizers, soups, dinner salads, dinner dishes, steak and fries dishes, burgers, comfort food, and finally the desert area – which by comparison is quite slim with just three offerings. It don’t matter, trust me you will not have room! The restaurant is divided into 3 areas, so they can open more seating on busier nights. The atmosphere was lively and the seating roomy. The service was stunning. My compliments to the manager, and to the wait staff whose names I should have written on the back of my hand! Sorry guys. The portions were very large, they do not chintz on the vegetables and the main centre plate was large. I have been at restos where we order a shared Appi, the soup or salad starter, and the meal, and are not full. Not here!We passed on an appetiser – though everything looked fab – and the only additions we made were that I ordered a soup starter and my wife had the house salad add on. My cremini mushroom soup was a full portion, delicious, no beyond delicious - perfect. My meal was a Chicken Cordon Bleu. It was a tad overdone on the outside, possible a reflection of the fact it was an enormous portion. The meal comes with garlic mashed potatoes, steamed veggies, and a mushroom sauce. OMG – the veggies were cooked to perfection and there were so many, the sauce and the potatoes were so tasty. I felt bad that I left so many veggies (damned scots – what are veggies!) but the Cordon Bleu was so big I could barely finish it. My wife’s dinner was equally big, and the house salad served on the side was a full portion salad. Contrary to other comments, the meal was well paced. Just over an hour. We had lots of time to get to our show. I have three knocks against them that I would wish I could rate as a ½ star but the system does not allow for that. One was the overdone cordon bleu crust. Not burnt, but overdone. The other was observing the table next to us where soup and mains were delivered at the same time. The mains were taken away and obviously kept warm. That spaghetti was served without a winding spoon, small issue. There are no condiments on the table. They offer ground pepper – but that is it. Shades of Gareth Blackstock there. That my soup was brought in first and that they provided 2 spoons in case my wife wanted to try it – well maybe they are 5 stars after all. Conclusion: The price was right, the food was good, the service was great. Heartily recommended and I fully intend to return."
