"We got quick friendly service although the restaurant was quite full. We had the chicken espetada, which was nicely seasoned but not crisp - grilled without the skin. The mixed fish platter had three different fish on it: a sardine, a kind of sea bass (previously frozen, the fat under the skin had an aftertaste), and merluza. It was our fault, though: We should have asked, which fish is in season and fresh in winter."

"I only read the rather mixed reviews for this restaurant after we had visited. The previous evening we had eaten at a very well reviewed place just out of Funchal and for me the food at O Jango was equally as good. The welcome was friendly and we sat outside watching the world and potential diners go by. Grilled mussels with garlic and oil were excellent as was the grilled octopus with potatoes and vegetables. We had a glass of local wine each which was served at just the right temperature. Our main quibble was the time waiting especially between starter and main courses. I’m quite happy to wait after enjoying my starter and more often than not the main course arrives too soon but 30 minutes seemed a bit long. The restaurant wasn’t busy either. Maybe they were short staffed in the kitchen? Otherwise a really nice meal."

"We had twice in the restaurant too. the first time we enjoyed it, but the second time it wasn't so good. they get full tracks for the location, the views and the ambiente, no question. only a word of warning to the seafood salad....The mush, mush and garnel were surely chewed out of frozen. the last ingredient was that fake crabs that should be abolished and not be passed on as crabs or any seafood of any kind. I am inclined to avoid all seafood on the menu when as the salat they are previously frozen."
