"Excellent food, bent over backwards to my wife and I, when we had not booked, on a cold and snowy Saturday night. We went back to brunch the next day. Also the food was excellent and the staff friendly. We will return."

"We enjoyed a meal here with our daughter and grandchildren. A good range of beers and excellent menu. The food was good and service was also excellent. I have given negative reviews for this restaurant in the past but I did enjoy this visit, especially as my daughter had a money off voucher,which made the food a good deal. We more than made up for this with the alcohol purchased though."

"A Great Night in Chester. My partner and I dined at the Blackhouse grill when visiting Chester for the weekend. Our concierge recommended the grill to us and we had a superb meal accompanied by live music and service, which can only be described as exceptional and very welcoming. A must visit for anyone who is in Chester, and we will definitively be back. …. "We've stayed at the Queen Chester hotel before and ate at the restaurant, was fantastic! So we chose to stay at this hotel again and booked a table online in advance. In short.. the restaurant was understaffed and we had to sit at the bar and wait to be seated for a while after a very luke warm welcome. We were then told that the menu we had seen on the website (and chosen the restaurant based on) wasn't available. The service was slow and by 9pm (we had booked for 8pm) the staff couldn't get us out of there quick enough. We weren't even brought the bill but were told to pay at the door on the way out. During the last half hour of our meal the staff were busy setting up for breakfast. The food was actually pretty nice but the service was terrible. All in all a disappointing experience for an £80 meal. Unfortunately I won't be eating here again which is a shame because last time it was really great."
