"We so enjoyed our meal at L'instant Basque. We were a little late for lunch on market day and the place was busy - we wanted to eat outside so squeezed ourselves in a corner (It did feel bad at all) and instantly we were fussed over by the staff asking us if we were comfortable and saying that they would add another table to make us more comfortable as soon as they had one available. Wonderful! The menu is very interesting and very different from the other offerings in the region and we decided to all go for the Iberian platter (assiette iberique). It was a good price around £14 euros. The staff recommended we try the local wine - 19 made just outside of Brive. It was amazing. Lovely and refreshing. Note to self, must visit the vineyard!When our plates came, we were completely overwhelmed by the size. They must have been platters nearly a meter long. The food was completely delicious. Great fresh salad, delicious and tender porc meat, slightly smoked bacon, a chorizo sausage, the chips looked home made, the cheese was good. Wow, it was all amazing. I could not fit in a dessert but my mum did and she loved it. Fresh red fruits with coulis and chantilly cream. I can't wait to visit Brive again and try some of the other dishes on the menu."

"We were fortunate to have both lunch and dinner (Sept/Oct) at this superb restaurant during our stay in the Dordogne region. Thanks to TripAdvisor for guiding us there. What a joy! This is a small restaurant delivering enormous delights. If I sound expansive it is because it is so good and I want to encourage others to share our fabulous food experiences. Fanny is the most charming front of house part of this talented couple whose results reveal their obvious passion for food and its presentation. The space is elegant, calm and unpretentious and it is evident that every detail has been thought through and designed to create the best possible dining experience. Pierre's food is seriously delicious and plated with flair. The fixed price menus are ridiculously affordable with more than satisfying servings and accompanied by an excellent wine list. Advice: Check their website for opening days/hours and don't forget to book. It would be a tragedy to miss this gastronomic gem!!"
