"Me and my friend came here for dinner both with allergies. The staff were so understanding and Henry the chef went out of his way to make sure we had an amazing meal. "We booked an evening meal at Great Brampton House and certainly weren't disappointed. Rather than the advertised buffet meal it was a set meal in the restaurant, because there weren't many people eating that night. We were made very welcome and told that we could explore the downstairs and treat it as if we were at home. The house and contents are fantastic. Every surface is covered in antiques, curios and works of art. There are books everywhere too. I would hate to have to do the dusting here! We were advised that they do not have a professional kitchen, just a normal household kitchen and a cook rather than a chef. We chatted to the cook as she was preparing dinner, We had smoked salmon blinis with beetroot salad to start, followed by chicken breast with mozarella sun dried tomatoes, dauphinoise potatoes, new potatoes, green beans mange tout. Sweet was a strawberry cheesecake served in a wineglass. Afterwards we left the restaurant and helped ourselves to port and stilton in the Wedgewood Room, which we ate outside on the terrace. The food was delicious, served on bone china, with silver cutlery and beautiful glasses. Service was excellent and attentive. We were lucky enough to have a tour of the downstairs of the house and the large roof terrace after dinner. We paid £35 per head and this included drinks before dinner, wine with our meal and port afterwards. It was well worth it and we will definitely be going back very soon."
