"This place really shines if you order in advance turning up without an order means you could wait up to 45 minutes at peak times. Really good fish and chips though. We will be back again. "We'd been recommended this by the campsite. First night so wanted a quick and easy meal. Phoned in the order , had to wait outside for a good half hour. Chips were soggy and undercooked Fish was ok but the batter was forgettable Appreciate that...they were very busy but chi's just needed longer with hotter fat. Fortunately everywhere else we have been has been great. We wouldn't bother with here again"

"We were renting a lodge at Bay Colwell as we were on the island for our 1st Wedding Anniversary we actually had dinner reservations at another restaurant that evening for our anniversary however due to a fire we had to come up with a Plan B) So we decided to have Fish and Chips on the lodge and relax. The food was far to expensive and terrible quality. We had cheesy chips which barely had a thin covering of cheese, kebab which was stone cold by the time we got back to the lodge less than a mile away) all just a but hopeless really. Then there's the state of the place, dark, dingy with tiles hanging off, smashed glass and just generally run down. The service was horrendous too. It wasn't until AFTER I paid that I was told it would be about 25 minutes, had I of known this I wouldn't have bothered, they seemed to be be saying this for every order too! The guy that served me sounded like he didn't want to be there and the guy in chef clothes was borderline obnoxious too. After we left we found our order was missing items so phone the restaurant and they asked me to come back to which I declined. I suggested they refund the items remotely which isn't a difficult thing to do and they weren't able to suggesting I return for a cash refund yet further inconvenience me) Overall, shocking. "We love this pub. Good wines very well kept real ales. Couple that to the historic cosy charm, good staff with a friendly welcome very good food. I had the lobster last time it was really good. If your taste is a cosy pub with loads of charm no muzak or fruit machines then you will love this pub as well. Along with the Red Lion Freshwater this rates as one of the best on the island."

"This place is really good, booked a table for the evening, arrived slightly early and was sat down straight away. Starters was good, had seafood spaghetti for mains and was really good in portions and taste. Prices slightly high but for a evening out well worth it in my opinion. Staff was polite and helpful, deserves a visit go and enjoy.Strong 4!"
