"We regularly visit this region and heard that Le Grand Balcon was in new ownership and had benefited from a refurb. The place has certainly been updated, but that’s were the positives end. Whilst the decor is more modern, the new tables are ridiculously small...for two and when bread, water wine are served they are already crammed and cluttered. The food is the biggest letdown. In a brasserie you don’t expect fine dining, you do expect good quality bistro style food with local products, certainly neither were evident here. Presentation, quality and flavour were all lacking. The salads looked like something that may have been served in the 90’s. For example, I had Cesar salad which came with breaded chicken, clearly cooked off by the kitchen in batches and refrigerated so cold, soggy and unappetising. The salad leaves were served in a grey coloured dressing, certainly not a traditionally Cesar one. Service was OK, however prices are not cheap, from memory 15€ for the aforementioned salad which, for what it was, terrible value for money. Have tried it, but won’t be back. The new owners had the opportunity to make a little gem out of this place, but that opportunity has been missed."

"Our party of 6 sat at the terrace which isn’t very big, and several late comers were disappointed to have to go inside because the day was lovely for a lunch al fresco. However, the indoor dining room is very nice too. Since we all had some variations of pizza, that is all I can comment on. Every one enjoyed theirs; and I particularly appreciated the special 1/2 pizza, 1/2 salad, served on a large platter. The pizza was still very big! The salad was simple and very good. The best desserts were homemade: Tarte Tatin, tiramisu, and poire Belle Helene. Service was super friendly and efficient. Great place, great value (96,00 euros for 6 including drinks and wine)."
