The decor is inviting, the staff were so friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious, so much so that we went back for our last...night in Newcastle. "I haven't been to The Royal for a few years and I was very surprised. We had dinner here after a Knights game and the staff were very friendly and the food was very good. Next time I will be back to have a pizza as the woodfire as the couple next to us had one and it looked amazing."

"Stayed here for 2 nights while my wife was in hospital. The staff were absolutely fantastic and accommodated my need to fit in with the hospital visiting hours even offering to contact me if the kitchen needed to close early so I could make arrangements to get a meal or eat elsewhere. Free bottle of wine with dinner and the food was really good. No they don’t do breakfast but I knew that in advance and there are numerous places just across the road to get a very decent breakfast. The room was very funky and comfortable. The shower is fully glassed and in full view of the room. Did not worry me because I was alone in the room but it could be a bit confronting for some people. All in all I would be very happy to stay here again."
