"Lovely meal, excellent staff but had to wait too long for our table, arrived at 1945 for our 2000 booking, we waited 15 minutes at the bar for a drink as previous customers wanted cocktails and it was 2115 before we were seated, the starter arrived pretty quickly but had to wait ages for our main course, just before 2200 and our dessert arrived at 2235. I appreciate that it was a Saturday evening but it was a birthday celebration. We will visit again, just not on a Saturday."

"I visited 'The Four Seasons ' coffee shop at Silica Lodge with my Partner and child on Sunday. It was the first time we have visited. It will also be the last time. The experience was very disappointing. There was quite a lot of customers in the restaurant but there was also several empty tables which hadn 't been cleared. A waitress told us to sit at a table that hadn 't been cleared and she would come over and clear it for us. It was around 15 minutes before anyone came to clear the table, and when they did they didn 't wipe it. Thankfully I had some wipes in my bag so I could wipe the table as it was sticky. When we looked at the prices on the menu, we were surprised at how much an establishment that describes itself as a 'coffee shop ' is charging for food. We were hoping for the price it cost the meals wouldn 't disappoint. We ordered a childs portion of chicken goujons £7.50) an adults portion of chicken goujons £12.99) and an adults portion of sausage roll and chips £9.99) The experience here didn 't get off to the best start with having to wait for the table to be cleared. Then the queue to order food, although it wasn 't a long queue 4 people) was a lengthy one as the service at the counter was very slow. The can of coke I received was warm. The meals arrived 25-30 minutes after ordering. The waitress just put them on our table and walked off without asking if there was anything else we would like or even an 'enjoy your meals '. We wanted tomato sauce. We tried a few times to flag down a member of staff to ask for the sauce but was ignored repeatedly until we finally got the attention of a waitress who sorted it for us, but by that point we 'd nearly finished the meals anyway. The meals we received were OK but they were very basic. My partner said the sausage roll he had was good quality meat so possibly from a butchers. The chicken in the goujons were also a decent quality meat although they just tasted like they were from a supermarket, and the chips were just frozen chips. These meals were basically what you would expect a busy parent to put together after school for tea at home. Not much presentation, just some food thrown together on a plate. Our meals here were very similar to Morrisons cafe meals, only their meals are cheaper and their portions are bigger, plus children eat for free there. I would also like to point out that the chicken goujons are Southern Fried which isn 't specified on the menu but I think it should be as many people, myself included, but especially children do not like Southern Fried chicken. We regularly visit different pubs in different locations for food, and the prices we are paying for pub meals is not much more, in many venues no more, than what this establishment charged. We have never been charged as much for a child 's meal as what we were charged here, and this was the first occasion we have ever eaten out and left hungry. Even my 3 year old asked us to get her something else to eat but we couldn 't face another lengthy wait for a slice of cake. Also just to add, they have set up a new 'Dog friendly area ' just outside the café but still inside the building. For anyone thinking of going there, you notice as soon as you walk out of the cafe how cold drafty this area is. Obviously you wouldn 't have to worry about the weather on a rainy day sitting in this area, but personally I wouldn 't want to sit in this area with my dog. I 'm afraid I have nothing positive to say about our experience here. I don 't think the layout of the café works at all, the tables are too close together making it difficult for both customers and staff to manoeuvre around tables. Although I saw someone manage to get a wheelchair through, it 's not really wheelchair friendly. The atmosphere is also not very pleasant being sandwiched in between tables. This feedback will probably be ignored because the coffee shop was busy so management will no doubt feel they don 't need to make changes, but I 've worked in other catering establishments and I think there are changes that could be made that would benefit your staff as well as your customers. The system behind the counter needs reconsideration. Also, the waitresses should be bringing trays out to clear empty tables instead of carrying just a couple of things at a time back into the kitchen. You were losing potential customers as there was no tables cleared for them to sit at. Speed is crucial to providing good service, and reputation should be just as important as footfall to a business."
