"Amazing Sunday lunch. The lamb was perfect as was the spinach wellington. Eat in the garden on a mild October day. Survive was friendly and make a great meal all the better for it. Price per person: £20–30 Recommended dishes: Sunday Roast"

"Sometimes you just need a great meal out and this was just what we needed to lift us after a hard week. Nigel Tabb’s Sunday roasts are a fabulous four course treat. This time there was a glass of cava to start and coffee to end four perfect courses. The roast venison and accompanying seasonal vegetables was exceptional. The Cote du Rhône Village I chose to go with it was great. Service was a good as the food. There is nothing more annoying than to have great food let down by poor service. This never happens at Tabb’s."

"Horrible service. Not very clear about sitting in and taking away. Went to sit down and was told to leave. Girl behind counter laughed in our faces denying the fact that she said we could sit in. When we tried the chips they were soggy. And the manager also didnt wear gloves while frying the nuggets. Never EVER going again!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Penrose Kitchen today. We both opted for the set menu, which was primarily fish-based and didn't disappoint. I had the haddock fishcakes and my other half chose the pate. The latter came with one slice of toast which we considered a bit stingy, but you couldn't fault the immense flavour in either dish. For the main course, my partner chose the sole and I had the beef brisket. Again, both meals were delicious. I was so full after my two courses, I took the easy route out and ordered another glass of the fabulous French rose wine, (dry), whilst my other half managed to squeeze in a vanilla pannacotta with berries and a dollop of cornish iced cream. The service was attentive, yet unobtrusive, and we are definitely planning a return visit in the near future. Just one request please: for those of us who order the skinny fries, please can we have some vinegar on hand? Pretty please."
