"I am shocked at these reviews! I grew up in a neighborhood with some Chinese families (USA) and can tell the difference between authentic and fast food dishes. Sun Wah has authentic, the flavors melt in your mouth with each and every dish. The care taken to make their dishes wins my vote. We try to eat there every time we come into Whangarei. I love the graciousness of the owner who at times comes to the table to ask if everything was fine...the waitress is lovely and fun to talk with and makes sure we are cared for while dining there. And, I do not know these people...just great food. I wish they would move to Waipu! Chinese cafe here is disgusting. I sent friends there who were celebrating her granddaughter's 19th birthday...they called to rave over the food as they also enjoyed it. You have my business for lunch or dinner you're a 10 in my book!"

"Would eat here everyday if I could. The fried chicken is so enjoyable. Large portions. Have also tried other dishes from here and never ever been disappointed. Have always booked a table, but one instance we were seated we waited maybe half an hour before the order was taken. Once the order had been placed food arrived one hour after later. That was disappointing since we had booked in advance. Hence four stars out of five."

"Very nice impromptu meal for 20 plus. Some chose the banquet, others off the menu. This was dealt with very well and all food came out at nicely timed intervals. All very tasty with generous portions. Definitely worth a visit."

"Tried the new shop in Manu and found the meal was good with a good amount of chicken. Will definitely be going back. Staff friendly, ordered a medium spice and could not taste any heat at all so that and a bit of work on their website to make it easier to select Manu when ordering online would give it a 5 start"
