Ants Bistro, located just off Little Bourke Street in Melbourne's Chinatown, offers a pan-Chinese menu with an emphasis on northern and Szechuan cuisine. Despite being tucked away in Corr's Lane, the food at Ants Bistro is great and very reasonably priced. The restaurant is BYO wine only and the menu indicates the level of heat in each dish. Dishes like spring onion pancake, beef dumplings, spicy pork ribs, Szechuan duck, and ants climbing trees are all highly recommended. The atmosphere and decor may not be exceptional, but the service is efficient. With generous serving sizes and decent pricing, Ants Bistro is a hidden gem for delicious Asian food in Melbourne's Chinatown.
The average review for Ants Bistro is 4, which means that the customers have a very high opinion of this restaurant.
What Pamela Ledner likes about Ants Bistro:
Have been dining here for about 3 years. Spring onion cake and dumplings are delicious. Maria and Stephen could not be more helpful with our selection of dishes as one of our party has food allergies. Now each time we arrive we just let them decide which dishes he can eat and we all share. Very well priced and friendly efficient service. We come here 3 or 4 times a year and do not bother looking elsewhere in Chinatow... View all feedback.
What Rita M doesn't like about Ants Bistro:
There was a private party going on upstairs and the staff were preoccupied. Our meals came out one by one and one of us was finished before the others had even been served. I would hope this was a one off, but by the other reviews, I can see that it isn't. The food was enjoyable, but had we not already paid, we would have asked for a refund as the service was unbelievably slow and no apologies were offered for this. View all feedback.
