I was staying in the old barracks hotel below this place and enjoyed a few drinks in here before going to the speedway. It is a lovely quirky pub and the staff were young, pretty and unusual (in a good way)...and it was full of quirky characters...the ideal place for people watching. What Lovelanz2018 doesn't like about Guardhouse:
We went to the Garrison for a meal in the bar. The waiting time was 40 mins but at least we were told that when we ordered. The salmon was very good as was the scampi and chips. However, I would warn against choosing the steak and ale pie. The pastry was soggy and the meat was chewy, like trying to eat old shoe leather!
