AUSTEN'S RESTAURANT is the in-hotel restaurant for Pierpoint Inn in Ventura. Its covered patio faces the ocean and got a lot of sunlight when I had lunch. This restaurant is located in a hotel, and it just wasn't very good, unfortunately. For starters, I had the butternut squash soup and my friend had the charcuterie. My soup was a tad chunky, and didn't have the hearty flavor I was expecting. For the main course I had seared halibut and my friend had the salmon. My halibut was dry and chewy.
