To begin, preheat your oven to 350°F and line a square baking dish with parchment paper. This will ensure that your brownies come out easily and beautifully fudgy. In a double boiler, melt together high-quality dark chocolate and unsalted butter until smooth and glossy. This step is crucial for achieving that deep, intense chocolate flavor in your brownies.

Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, and a splash of vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Slowly incorporate the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, being careful not to overmix. Overmixing can lead to a denser, less airy brownie - not what we're aiming for in this recipe.

Next, sift in the flour and a pinch of salt. Gently fold everything together until just combined. The key here is to mix the ingredients just until you no longer see any streaks of flour - a few lumps are totally fine. This will result in a tender, melt-in-your-mouth brownie that is sure to impress even the most discerning of palates.

Transfer the batter to the prepared baking dish and smooth out the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
