"Great eating experience! we arrived a few minutes before closing the kitchen and we still got warm welcome and hot meal served in no time! we loved it so much that we came back the next day and we were surprised again very positiw. of the sections of the specializations and of the quality of our meal! highly recommended! very good and I wish I could hug the chef to risotto that was served me."

"Had the pleasure of eating here 3 times in a week when staying close to the village. When you walk through the door, it was like walking into the most perfect English pub you could imagine. I liken it to the pub in the holiday film. So cosy welcoming. My favourite pint of the week was an Old Smithy Porter at 4.7%. Our first meal blew me away. Lamb with minted peas, a wee lamb pie, some fancy potatoes gravy. My wife was very happy with the sea bream a big crab cake. Desert was a chocolate torte large enough to share the guilt. Complements to the chef staff. Try the specials as he likes to try new meals to test the lucky guests. The cheese suffle was ridiculously good as a starter. Book a table early if you don 't want to miss out enjoy. We had all our meals in the dog friendly bar."

"I recently visited Cumbria with five friends (so 6 of us in total). We decided to treat ourselves to a curried dinner and, being near Appleby we chose ashiana. To give some context we were hungry boys at this point, strong boys. In light of this, and despite local objections that ‘we’d never make it’ we ordered twelve (12) curries for us six (6) lads. Meaning 2 curries per person. What a treat we were in for. Immediately upon entering the curry house the respect of the staff was palpable, the twelve (12) curries handed over like a precious relic. Once home we tucked into our curry and reached a state of ecstasy at bossmans exquisite spicing. Much, much more lay ahead. As we dove deeper into curry delirium the flavours only heightened. As i looked around, I could see the deep respect for this curry, written in the eyes of my comrades. This remarkable meal barely touched the sides of bossmans deep, layered menu yet contained unique innovations, wonderful rediscoveries and crowd pleasing classics. A tour de force"
