Food was delicious! Pasta was made with a unique sauce and flavour, and chips were crisp with just the right amount of oregano and feta. I'd love to try the coffee next time, as I saw many people come in for a takeaway coffee and meal. Staff were not overly friendly and did not approach or speak the entire time, but service was prompt and efficient. Cafe has a nice homey vibe with dark lighting and the smell of break... What Clifford Willms doesn't like about Peppertree Cafe:
the peppertree cafe is a humanity project managed by bankstown's multicultural jugend service. this organization was well-offing winner at the recent fair go for the west awards for their achievements in employment. when we heard about her mission and her success, we decided to book a table for dinner in the caffe for her monthly performance night. we wanted to learn in the Bankstown community and contribute to this... I used to have my counselling sessions at this cafe over some coffee, which says a lot about how comfortable and relaxed I found the environment to be. The staff are super friendly and they were very accommodating when I asked for something vegan. They ended up giving me a tasty and filling burger with chips on the side. It's a good place to wind down in the middle of the day.
I found myself far far from home last Sunday and in desperate need for a coffee and sustenance. After a quick check of my Bean Hunter app, I stumbled upon this little gem of Gymea. It is quite small (maybe 12-15 tables) and you can sit inside or outside. My foodie companion and I grabbed a spot outside after short wait (it is quite popular). We perused the pretty good and straight forward menu (bacon and eggs, homemade banana bread, pancakes, french toast, eggs benedict etc). I ordered the Slow Cooked Baked Beans (with smoked ham hock, spinach, parmesan, poached egg and rye toast) and my friend ordered Spanish Baked Eggs (with confit balsamic, tomato, roast capsicum, oregano and chorizo, sourdough toast). It was beautifully served and the absolutely delicious. Considering all the tables were full, it came out really quickly (much appreciated). The coffee was strong and good (piccolo and flat white were both good). If we ever find ourselves wandering in downtown Gymea, we will definitely go back. foodiemookie.com
