If you want to eat german, do it properly. This restaurant had all the typical dishes and knows how to cook them...schnitzels are amazing, especially the wienar, kaiserschmann is also available. Nothing fancy, just good huge portions of german style food. I recommend it, the...More
Dropped by, we were 16 people - no problem. We all had soup - Goulash and potato - hot and really tasty. Reasonable prices, nice food.
Many of the forum regulars had sung the praises of the Altberliner, so I decided it was time to pay it a visit. Unwittingly I chose a Wednesday evening when all Schnitzels were reduced, so I thought it would be rude not to take advantage of the offer :). It was a balmy Summer's evening, so I sat on the terrace and enjoyed a nice meal washed down with good Berliner beer. Many of the other customers were locals and knew each other, but I didn't feel at all out of place and was made welcome by both staff and other diners. The food was 'traditional German', served in large portions at very reasonable prices. If you want a touristy place where everyone speaks English, this may not be your sort of place, but if you want a proper Berlin experience, you will definitely enjoy the Altberliner.
Obviously A place frequented by locals. They were accommodating to our English-speaking family. Lovely place to sit across the park from the flea market. Nice food and we felt that we were having a reasonably authentic experience
