reading some of the reviews here I was a little skeptical for my visit the personal was however attentive. the food was very tasty and the price cheap. I ordered a first only penne forno. chicken and mushroom sauce. tasting and a fair...big part. this restaurant is located right next to the bar thirteen I would definitely go back. View all feedback.
What Norman Bernhardt doesn't like about Bellissimo:
Bellissimo is a bit old looking place, little atmosphere, which a fairly standard menu for an Italian restaurant. I get the Minestrone (€4.30), which is really just a watery tomato soup with some less and carrots. The Spaghetti Bolognese (€6) is mediocre but remarkably cheap. Overall, not worth it. The chef likes to make his pasta daily fresh. The place is run by three older gentlemen. Real Italians. The Agnolotti (with cantharelles of with lobstersauce and shrimps) made us come back. The gerand was just as happy to serve the Italian food as to serve Bittburger. Friendly and uncomplicated. Mildly priced.
We went one afternoon to escape some heavy rainfall and were greeted with a frown, and perceptible lack of enthusiasm. We seated in a table close to the kitchen, but had to wait for the menu to be delivered, then another 20 minutes to have our orders taken. When ordering food, the waiter asked us to order pizza, not pasta, as it is easier to prepare, but eventually gave in and even pasta was served. We had to wait approximately 45 minutes until food arrived, so we had plenty of time to have a look around:* the decor of the restaurant is very outdated and tacky* the tablecloths were stained and somehow damp* the olive oil that sat on the counter was well expired* the bathrooms were filthy and smelly* although there plenty of tables available, the waiter kept turning down incoming patrons, as it was too busy* the staff was clearly overwhelmed and not prepared for a number of guestsThe food, when it finally arrived, was failry disappointing. My pizza was soggy and the crust hard and inedible.Pasta looked and tasted bland and boring.I will not go again and would not ever recommend it.
Title sums it up, ridiculously cheap compared to everywhere else and really tasty and good sized portions, cheap wine too! Highly recommend!
It's Italian. And pretty good at that (I've had a lot worse food in Rome). But it is rather an average restaurant when all is said and done. My wife and I had a good experience, but we were also guests of some locals who ate their frequently, so I suspect our service was a bit better than that received by other guests. You won't go wrong or go home hungry if you visit here. But be prepared for some waiting time and possibly other inconveniences.
We never actually got to eat! Reserved a table, took 30 mins to order, waited another 15 for a sign of life and left - as did other diners. AVOID
