Hubby, daughter and I had breakfast here this morning. The service is outstanding, quietly friendly, attentive and obliging. We ordered from the menu, but asked if we could change a few things on 2 of the dishes. Sure - no problem at all! Anything can do for you we are happy to do. The food was cooked and presented well and tasted delicious. Hubby had the full breakfast and thought it was scrumptious, daughter and I... View all feedback.
What Sue C doesn't like about Kava Cafe:
Local cafe so a great place for dinner, unfortunately we waited over an hour for our main meal. The waitress offered us free dips and bread as well as the other tables around us. Uber Eat bags were flying out the door so obviously that is more important then the sit down customers. When the meal finally arrived it was very average and very fatty. Lift your game and appreciate all customers. View all feedback.
Dropped in for a coffee. Found it was pretty quiet and dark there, with too many tables/chairs jam packed in one to of one another. Coffee was made too hot, couldn't even hold the cup and was average quality. Didn't taste any food so can't comment. Wouldn't return personally
Used to frequent Kava a lot but its lost the plot. Tired interior, paint peeling off the walls. Menus are old and dirty. We dropped by for breakfast and it was underwhelming. Staff unhappy and disinterested. Delivery drivers take priority and you have to ask for water, cutlery, sugar etc. We ordered eggs and fruit toast which took ages and was underwhelming. The waitress explained that the toaster was on the fritz. Kava was once a vibrant cafe with great coffee and excellent food but 2 recent visits have shown me that it's lost its way.
We went to Kava for a Father 's Day brunch, arriving about 10.15 am. We ordered two coffees, an apple juice, a bowl of mushroom arancini balls and three Eggs Benedict. The cafe was far from full one table was just finishing and another table of four appeared to be waiting for their order. The two coffees and apple juice came fairly promptly. The apple juice tasted as though it was starting to ferment, not good. After 25 minutes of waiting since placing our order we were offered an apology we have had a lot or orders at the same time and two complimentary chocolate muffins which we did not want. A few minutes later we were served the arancini balls they were okay but were heavy with cooking fat. We were told that they were about to start cooking our Eggs Benedict but when there was no clear explanation of when these dishes might be ready, I told them not to bother, demanded a refund and we left. This was only the second time I have ever walked out of a cafe/restaurant because of abysmal service. As I was waiting for the refund, another couple were being told that the meal they wanted to order would not be ready for more than an hour because of a backlog of orders. With relatively few people in the cafe, we could only surmise that there was a large number of UberEats orders leaving the kitchen unable to cope. This simply unacceptable for any restaurant or cafe.
Another scrumptious meal at our local Kava cafe last Friday. We had garlic and rosemary bread for starters think garlic and herb Turkish bread served piping hot with an olive oil and soy dipping sauce on a cold Friday night. Yum. For mains we had the Nero linguine and crab pasta and the rack of lamb, both delicious. The owners and staff at Kava are to be congratulated for their welcoming and cheerful service and consistently good food. Good value for $110 including a bottle of wine and a beer. Thanks folks.
Kava need to get their act into gear, I visited with an old friend this afternoon after checking the trading hours online and the board saying the hours on the door. Well we arrived just before 2pm, Wednesday and they are supposed to be open. Staff were inside and saw us trying the door and didn't bother to come and explain why closed when they clearly advertise Open. Get your act into gear Kava. By the way, the food is good if it's open
